Data Visualization
My background in graphic design and fine art seemed like separate worlds—until I realized data visualization could bridge them. Design provides a framework, much like a creative brief, helping me translate environmental data into immersive visual narratives.
Weather data, in particular, offers a powerful lens to explore climate change. My “Unless” collection, for instance, visualizes extreme weather events from 2023 across Canada. Using temperature data from airports near these events, I map patterns of heat and cold into color-coded forms. These abstracted data points become the foundation of my compositions—whether cut acrylic wall pieces, murals, sculpture, or tile.
Beyond aesthetics, this approach allows for customization. Commissions can incorporate personalized data—any date, any event—transforming abstract climate trends into deeply personal, site-specific works. My art turns data into something tangible, bridging analytical insights with emotional resonance.
